Instagram finally comes to Windows Phone 8 in beta avatar, but it lacks all the Instagram essentials options

After promising users about Instagram for Windows Phone since May 2013, the publishers of Instagram today finally published the Beta version of Instagram on Windows Phone store.  The App was made available almost after three years since it landed on Apple Store.
Instagram finally comes to Windows Phone 8 in beta avatar, but it lacks all the Instagram essentials options

The beta version is free to download and works on all Windows Phone 8 devices like the Lumia 520, Lumia 620 etal but there are some serious issues with the all new Instagram beta App.  For starters you can take any photos with the App.  For some peculiar reason the worlds most popular and famous photography sharing App can not take snaps from within the App rather you have to use the default or the native camera to snap pictures and import them into the Instagram and share them on the Instagram social engine. This is not the only anomaly, the new beta App cant be used for the video feature.  Yes, you cant use the Instagrams video feature too with this App.

The publishers say this is a beta version hence it is being run for a testing purpose.  The publishers also add that the new features will be available as soon as the beta testing is over but know one knows when.

"We wanted to make Instagram available to people with Windows Phones as quickly as possible, so we focused on creating an awesome experience with Instagram's core features. We're not finished, and our team will continue developing the Windows Phone app to keep releasing features and bringing you the best Instagram possible."

A rather meek App but a must have if you are a avid photographer and would like to reach out to the millions of Instagramers online. You can download the App for your Windows Phone 8 from Windows Phone Store here.

If you already played this one before you know all about Angry Birds Star Wars.  If not, the Rovio Mobile Ltd. has just launched the sequel for the game called Angry Birds Star Wars II for all three devices, the Android smart phones and tablets, iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and Windows Phone 8.

Angry Birds Star Wars 2 available for Free now for Android, and paid versions available for iOS and Windows Phone

The game play is just the same but only this time you can either play as a bird or as a pig.  Also the game now has a new revenue generation method called the called Telepods.  This Telepods are nothing but in-App purchases which enable you to buy the characters of the game.  The game becomes easy to play with these characters but can be pretty costly on your pockets.  By the way there are 30 different characters available through the Telepods.

The features of the game as listed by Rovio are
JOIN THE PORK SIDE! For the first time ever play as the pigs! Wield Darth Maul’s double-bladed Lightsaber, or play as Darth Vader, General Grievous and other villains!
30+ PLAYABLE CHARACTERS! Our biggest line-up ever of playable characters – Yoda, pod-racing Anakin, Mace Windu, Jango Fett and many more!
TELEPODS! A groundbreaking new way to play! Now teleport your favorite characters into the game by placing your Angry Birds Star Wars Telepods* figures on your device’s camera!

SWAP CHARACTERS AS YOU PLAY! Switch characters in the slingshot at any time – yours to earn or purchase!
ToonsTV READY TO GO! The home of the hugely popular Angry Birds Toons animated series, plus many other top-quality videos!
Angry Birds Star Wars II also supports tablet devices, so you can unleash the Force on the big screen. May the birds be with you!

If you are the game for this one you can download it for free from Google Play for your Android smart phones and tablets.  Mind you the free version has lot of ads spilled all over the place.

Rovio is however charging $0.99 (Rs.60.00) from iOS users. The game requires any iOS device having iOS 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.  You can download the game for your iOS devices from Apple Store here.

Last but not the least, Rovio has for the first time made the game available for Windows Phone 8 simultaneously.  The sad part is that the Windows Phone 8 version is also a paid one costing $0.99 (Rs.60.00) and requires too much of hardware. It requires the following
Xbox
phone identity
video and still capture
data services
HD720P (720x1280)
WVGA (480x800)
WXGA (768x1280)
However you can also install the game manually by downloading this file.  The game is playable on the Nokia Lumia phones having Windows Phone 8 OS.  To download this great game visit the WindowsPhoneStore here. Great game and great past time but please do keep away for the in-App buys!

Top FREE 5 Apps for your Nokia Lumia 520, Lumia 620, Lumia 720 and other Nokia Lumia smart phones

Top FREE 5 Apps for your Nokia Lumia 520, Lumia 620, Lumia 720 and other Nokia Lumia smart phones

There isn't a shred of doubt that Windows Phone which powers the Nokia Lumia 520, Lumia 620, Lumia 720, Lumia 920 and other Nokia Lumia series of phone, is a laggard in the Apps and games department compared to the giants Apple and Google.  Apple Store packs the max number of Apps which Google is slowly but surely clawing to be the future number one in the Apps and Games space.

But that doesn't mean the Windows Phone doesn't have good Apps on its store.  It has nice Apps on its store which are free and pretty useful.  I am listing 5 of the top Apps which I think you should have on your Nokia Lumia smart phones, not because they are free but because they are worth it.

Flashlight XT : This App requires no intro.  A rather simple App with simple switch which lets you turn the LED Flashlight on and off. In the publishers own word, its elegant and simple.  You can use the Flashlight XT in Screenlight mode.  The best feature of the App is its ability to turn on the flashlight even if your smart phone is switched off by just clicking the camera button.  Do download this Ad free App which is a must have.

Oxford Dictionary :  This App to requires no formal intro.  Oxford rather speaks for itself.   You should download this must have App for your Nokia Lumia.

Lumia Clock : This nifty little App gives you different clock faces in different colours.  It is much of trendy App but a must have one.

Skype : This is one of the must have Apps on your Lumia device.  It lets you make free calls, free text messages and plenty of free things.  Skype is a all important App so if you dont already have it download it now.  Be sure to have a unlimited data plan while using Skype.

YouTube Downloader : Last but not the least, this is a pretty useful App which lets you download your favourite videos from YouTube directly to your Lumia Phone.   With this app you can browse YouTube and when you are on the page of the desired video you can download it as MP4 360p HQ or MP4 720p HD video. Downloaded videos can be found and played/deleted in the application's "downloaded files". You can also add links to these files in Music+Videos hub.

If you like the Apps do comment in.
